Cardassian Wars

the Cardassian Wars, was a prolonged conflict between the Federation and the Cardassian Union, which started at least as far back as 2347 and lasted into the 2350s. Smaller scale hostilities, seemingly not officially considered part of the war, continued into the 2360s. By the mid-2360s, the wars had settled into an effective stalemate, with neither side gaining advantage in terms of firepower or territory. In 2367 a truce was established, which enforced an end to active hostilities but left many of the major questions of the conflict unresolved. The final treaty to end all hostilities of the wars was not signed until 2370. This formed the Demilitarized Zone between the two powers, effectively creating a new border and clarifying the ownership of such planets as Dorvan V.
